RTC okays withholding P37 million Balili lot payment
CEBU, Philippines - Judge Ester Veloso of Regional Trial Court Branch 6 yesterday granted the motion of the provincial government to withhold the P37 million payment for the Balili property.
The court said they hade no problem granting the motion because the money is intact.
Yesterday morning’s hearing was the notice of claim with motion to hold distribution of estate in the matter of the last will and testament of Luis V. Balili and Amparo G. Balili
Capitol lawyer Marino Matinquilla said he was happy that Veloso granted their motion.
The provincial government bought the property for P98.9 million last year.
It was earmarked for various projects including a coal ash dump facility for the coal-fired power plant owned by the Korean Power Corporation-Salcon Power Corp. until it was discovered that a good part of the lot was underwater.
More than 80 percent of the Balili beach property was classified as timberland or public land by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7. (FREEMAN NEWS)
