- Mellanie Joy C. Rosales -

CEBU, Philippines - Unknown persons broke into the computer room of Alcantara National High School in Alcantara town and ran away with undetermined amount of valuables including the computer equipment of the school last Tuesday evening.

It was learned that the incident was not the first time to happen in the school as last week, school officials also reported to police that they lost gas tank and tubes to robbers.

However, they were not able to file charges against the suspects as they are still minors.

In the latest incident, Mrs. Clara Yosores, school principal, called Alcantara Police Station and reported that their computer room was ransacked by still unidentified persons.

SPO2 Joel Beriamente and SPO1 Pelayo Templado immediately responded to the area to conduct investigation.

It was at 7:30 a.m. of Wednesday when Mr. Mario Loubin Brigoli, one of the teachers, discovered that unknown persons broke into the school’s computer room when he saw that the computer sets were disarrayed and the wiring connections were disconnected.

During investigation, it was learned that one central processing unit (CPU), three automatic voltage regulators (AVR), one transformer, three multi-media speakers, one router and three mouse were missing.

It was also discovered that the perpetrators gained entry to the computer room by sawing the grill of its French window.

Chief Insp. Wilbert Parilla told The FREEMAN that they already have lead as to who might be the suspects.

According to him, they are going to trace the stolen items by monitoring who are going to sell them.

Parilla advices the school officials to hire security guards to watch over the school as it was victimized by thieves several times already. — THE FREEMAN
