CEBU, Philippines - Love triangle and personal grudge were believed to the reasons why a man stabbed his cousin to death in Upper Private, Barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete town last Friday night.
The victim, Joseph Ramos, a resident of the place, died of fatal stab wounds in the chest and stomach.
Prior to the incident, the police said that Ramos and the suspect, Alfredo Amancio, who happened to be his cousin, still had a drinking spree together in a nearby store.
Police officers of Dalaguete Police Station immediately responded to the area after receiving a call about the incident.
A team of policemen composed of SPO2 Cleto Pia, PO3 Domino Ravanes and PO2 Nowe Rosales proceeded to the house of the suspect’s mother, Elpedia Amancio, who confirmed that both the victim and the suspect were under the influence of liquor when they arrived at her house.
Pia said the two were reportedly having conversation while walking home but later in their conversation, the suspect allegedly got irked at the victim for the words the latter was telling him.
Upon their arrival at the suspect’s house, the latter allegedly suddenly took a knife and attacked the victim that resulted to his untimely demise.
The suspect immediately fled after the incident but later surrendered to his uncle, who is a barangay tanod of their place. He was then brought to Dalaguete Police Station for proper detention.
Elpedia Amancio told police that they tried to stop her son from attacking Ramos as he is her nephew but the suspect did not heed.
Pia said that during an interrogation, the suspect claimed that the victim had a relationship with his (suspect) wife.
“The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim because he saw a kiss mark in the private parts of his wife days ago,” Pia added. — THE FREEMAN
