Men on bikes shoot two

CEBU, Philippines - A man was shot dead by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle around 8:50 p.m. in sitio Ward II, Barangay Poblacion, Minglanilla town, last Saturday.

The victim was identified as Jerome Pansacala Pesalbon, 25, a resident of Tagaytay Vito, Minglanilla.

PO1 Edwin Camota of the Minglanilla Police Station said that their station received a phone call from a concerned citizen informing them that someone had been shot.

Initial investigation conducted by the police revealed that before the incident, victim was seen sitting on a monobloc chair in front of the Minglanilla fire station when suddenly two unidentified person on board a blue motorcycle stopped in front of the victim.

The man riding pillion suddenly shot the victim, hitting him in the head just above his left ear. Witnesses said the alleged assailant was wearing a cap, black shirt and short pants.

Pesalbon was rushed to the Minglanilla District Hospital but died a few minutes later.

Camota said people in the area said the victim was allegedly a robber but police personnel have yet to check if he had any police records. 

Around twenty minutes earlier another man was also shot by two unidentified men in sitio Candabong barangay Binlod Argao Town.

Eddie Lantora Alanie, 46, was standing beside the road when suddenly a Honda XRM motorcycle allegedly driven by a certain “Andres” together with unidentified passenger passed by in front of the victim.

The motorcycle doubled back and stopped in front of the victim before the two suddenly shot him without any apparent reason.

The victim was rushed to the Argao District Hospital with gunshot wounds to the back portion of his head and left shoulder as the assailants fled.

Responding policemen found two .45 cal. shells at the crime scene. — THE FREEMAN
