Ycong to keep eye on city dads

- Garry B. Lao -

CEBU, Philippines - Lapu-Lapu City Vice Mayor-elect Marcial Ycong, a consistent number one councilor in the 14-seat council for two-consecutive terms, said he will see to it that all councilors work competently for the committees assigned to them.

Ycong told The Freeman that the standing committees will be handled by 12 incumbent councilors including two ex-officios, namely, the Association of Barangay Council representative and Sangguniang Kabataan president representative.

“Status quo ang tanang committees,” Ycong said, adding that the 12th Sangguniang Panlungsod will convene on July 7.

Since the city is already a highly urbanized city, there will be two members added to the council.

According to Ycong, there will be committees that will be absorbed and another committee will be created to pave way for the new-comer and councilor-elect Harry Don Radaza and Leandro Patalinghug.

Ycong said he will focus on legislative tracking through transparency and monitoring of all ordinances and resolutions.

In last Wednesday’s session, the city council approved a supplemental budget No. 2 amounting to P13 million for the renovation of the city hall.

Ycong said part of the amount will be used for the renovation of the session hall and the purchase of additional furniture and microphones for the two new members.

Ycong also expects that the open space in the building will have a canopy so that it could serve as a waiting lounge.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
