CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver returned valuables and personal belongings to a woman passenger last Thursday noon who had left her luggage behind when she got off his cab last Wednesday evening.
Crisanto Dimaoy, 26, married, of barangay Guizo, Mandaue City, and who earns his living by driving a taxi for BNM Taxi, returned the things he found to Rose Lagrosa, a resident of Bago-bantay in Quezon City.
PO3 Joselito Catabas of the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) of the Mandaue City Police Office said Lagrosa had just come from a week-long vacation in Bohol.
Upon her arrival at Pier 3, she boarded a taxi but didn’t get its name and plate number.
She then ordered the driver to bring to Oftana Suites along A. S. Fortuna in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
In Banilad, she got off the taxi and forgot about retrieving her luggage from the taxi’s baggage compartment.
She then sought assistance from the IDMB Office wherein police personnel helped her to look for the taxi driver.
Unknown to her, Dimaoy, upon arriving at the BNM garage, checked the baggage compartment of his taxi and was surprised to see the baggage.
He said he failed to sleep well that night trying to think who his last passenger was.
When it occurred to him that it was Lagrosa who was the last one to board his taxi, he went back to Oftana Suites last Thursday morning to check if Lagrosa was still around.
Dimaoy then met Lagrosa who was talking with police operatives at the hotel lobby and told him that he came to return her personal belongings.
But since the baggage was left at the taxi’s garage in barangay Tabok, Dimaoy was then accompanied by the police.
Inside the IDMB office, he turned over to Lagrosa a laptop, a digicam, a cellular phone, three pieces of jewelry worth P30,000, and her other personal belongings. (FREEMAN NEWS)
