CEBU, Philippines - In celebration of the Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, Quota International of Metro Cebu in partnership with Bravehearts supported by GlaxoSmithKline Philippines, Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (POGS) Cebu Chapter and David’s Salon will bring “Laban ni Maria,” the anti-cervical cancer advocacy.

“Laban ni Maria” is spearheaded by the Magalona women - Pia and Maxene. They will spread the message of the advocacy to curb the rise of the fatal female sickness – through a fun concert cum fashion show at the Ayala Center Cebu - Activity Center on May 21, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.

This event aims to raise awareness about cervical cancer, to promote its prevention through screening and vaccination, and to raise funds for the benefit of disadvantaged women in our society.

The fashion show will highlight real women – mothers and their daughters in casual wear and evening wear. This will be followed by a concert by Age of Play.

The event will likewise feature an information booth on cervical cancer where an OB-Gyne will be available to answer questions from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and a booth on related medical screening by Gillamac’s Laboratory and Diagnostic.

Fun activity booths including nail art, hair braiding, glitter tattoo, and photo booth by Cebu Fotobooth shall be open starting 10:00 a.m. One can avail of the fun activities at the booths by giving a donation to the beneficiary of Quota International of Metro Cebu which is the Kahupayan Center for Women located at Sto. Rosario Parish, Cebu City.

The center provides counseling anchored on Christian faith to women and young girls, suffering trauma from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, abortion, prostitution, destitution and others.
