CEBU, Philippines - Fire victims in sitio Aroma in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City will soon receive assistance from the city government in the form of housing materials.
The Office of the City Social Welfare and Services(CSWS) in Mandaue is now processing the purchase request.
The city council had appropriated P5 million for the 719 families whose houses were totally or partly burned in a fire that hit sitio Aroma, Subangdaku last March 15.
Violeta Cavada, head of CSWS said the purchase request is the standard operating procedure before any government fund is released.
This process will take sometime and the end result will be the bidding of housing materials, Cavada said.
A validating team headed by Subangdako councilor Edgar Ouano had screened fire victims considering that many had claimed to be so.
The results showed there were 710 families who are actual victims wherein majority of their houses were totally burned and more than a hundred are renters. (FREEMAN NEWS)
