Loot, Te take Daanbantayan
CEBU, Philippines - Daanbantayan Vice Mayor Maria Luisa Loot and her runningmate Renato Te have been declared as winners of the May 10 elections.
But her rival Augusto Corro said it was not yet over.
Loot defeated Corro while Te defeated Corro's runningmate Hiram Benatiro. Loot got 21,194 votes while Corro got 14,231 votes.
Te got garnered 19,728 votes while Benatiro had 13,773 votes.
But Corro said the fight will continue as he has a pending protest before the Commission on Elections. He stressed that there will be no reconciliation between him and Loot.
Supporters of Corro gathered at his house in Barangay Poblacion yesterday.
Corro thanked all his supporters. He said the people of Daanbantayan know the results and the true sentiment of the people. Benatiro merely said he was surprised by the results. – THE FREEMAN
