2nd prosecution witness tags Dumpit as Go killer

CEBU, Philippines - The second prosecution witness against controversial policeman SPO2 Adonis Dumpit took the witness stand yesterday and told the court she saw Dumpit shoot robbery suspect Ronron Go last December 14, 2004.

Glenda Del Mar told the court she was reluctant to execute her affidavit and testify at first when she learned that she will be testifying against Dumpit. Reportedly for fear of her life, it took her about three years to execute an affidavit on May 11, 2007.

Del Mar said it was Go’s mother, Janeth Badana, who requested her to testify and execute her affidavit to pin down Dumpit.

When asked by Judge Ester Veloso why she is afraid of Dumpit, Del Mar said, “he would kill anyone.”

Del Mar disclosed her only son, Rotciv, was also killed several years ago. She blamed Dumpit as “responsible” for the death of her son.

Del Mar used to live in Barangay Villagonzalo II before she moved to the National Bureau of Investigation after her son and husband were killed.

Last April 27, witness Andres Satorre, 62, also testified that he saw Dumpit shoot Go without any prior warning shot. Go was reportedly unarmed at that time.

In his testimony, Satorre said he was inside their house on December 14 at around 5 pm in Barangay Villagonzalo II, Cebu when he was told by his wife about the commotion outside.

Satorre said his wife asked him to look for their grandson after they heard that Go was shot. When he went out of their house, Satorre said he saw Dumpit carrying a gun. He also saw Go running towards their direction.

Satorre said Dumpit warned Go not to run, but the victim continued to flee.

At this point, Dumpit fired at Go.

Veloso scheduled the next hearing of the case on May 17. (FREEMAN NEWS)
