Dumanjug mayoralty bet reports threats to his life
CEBU, Philippines - Dumanjug mayoralty candidate Nelson Garcia, younger brother of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, named the people who “will be held responsible” in case something bad happens to him.
A certification acquired by the Dumanjug Police Station from the National Police Commission (Napolcom) certified that the younger Garcia reported to the police station last Tuesday about men, allegedly hired by his opponent, he is suspicious of.
In the police blotter, the governor’s brother alleged that an unidentified man driving a white Enduro motorcycle was suspiciously looking and passing three times while he was having a meeting with his allies at his house in Barangay Ilaya last Sunday night.
He further alleged that prior to the incident, he has gathered information that a lawyer and his son, who is also mayoralty bet of the town, hired three men, who he believes will be used to intimidate or do harm to him.
The said men are certain “Edwin” of Barangay Manatad in Sibonga town, “Edward” and “Edgar,” both of Barangay Colawin, Argao town.
The governor’s younger brother further alleged that these men were allegedly seen by his supporters during the rallies of his opponent always carrying firearms and are known by them as gun-for-hires.
He said that both the lawyer and his son also hired another person they only knew as a certain “Leo” of Barangay Kandabong in Dumanjug. The man allegedly has a pending case for frustrated murder.
“The victim wanted to put the incident/information on record so that whatever will happen to him, this people mentioned in this blotter will be held responsible,” the certification from Napolcom further stated.
Sr. Insp. Rodrigo Giangan, officer-in-charge of Dumanjug Police Station, acquired the certification from the Napolcom last Thursday.(FREEMAN NEWS)
