CEBU, Philippines - Rock the Vote (RTV), a roadtrip to change, will rock Cebu’s party goers for a night of fun, music and dedication on May 3, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the Fuente Osmeña circle.
RTV is a concert caravan that will serve as an expression session for different people from various backgrounds such as visual art, music, filmmaking, photography, mountaineering, skateboarding and the like.
This creative and innovative people power and youth oriented run is inspired by the message that the power of change lies in everyone’s willingness to participate.
The caravan aims to be an avenue for all those believing and wanting change through this coming electoral exercise to be an activity where the people can express their creativity in bringing back the power to the people in charting their own destiny. RTV comprises the final leg of the LP campaign with the youth at its forefront.
Moreover, this caravan aims to unite different grassroots movements on a national scale while showcasing the talents and abilities of the people who are taking control and staking a claim in shaping this country’s future.
Further reaffirming that a groundswell of citizens fuels the yellow team’s campaign for change in place of a well-funded machinery, RTV taps into support from local groups in designated stops and organizations like Youth For Noy or YoNoy, and Pinoy Power.
RTV kicked off in Pampanga making its way through North Luzon and will lead up to major concerts in Cagayan de Oro, People Power Monument in Edsa and in Cebu. Popular bands and musicians like Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Hale, Moonstar88, Sugarfree and others will perform the Cebu’s leg on May 3.
At this crucial time, where the traditional way is to tell the youth what to do, they are asked to take the lead by letting everyone know what they believe in. The spirit of volunteerism fostered by RTV allows them to express their pride as Filipinos, in the language they speak.
Its attention will not be in what the candidates will do to win but what the people on the ground will do for the candidates representing change to win. It is not candidate centered but people-centered.(FREEMAN NEWS)
