NP in Lapu-Lapu to conduct seminar

CEBU, Philippines - The Nacionalista Party in Lapu-Lapu City will conduct a seminar for community leaders today.

City Councilor Junard Chan, NP’s mayoralty bet, said the seminar will help voters as well as supporters to keep abreast with things that are prohibited by the Comelec and how to detect and counter cheating schemes.

Chan’s group is worried that Comelec-Manila will not be able to rule on its petition asking the poll body to prohibit the bringing of sample ballots inside polling precincts and to stop Mayor Arturo Radaza of Lakas-Kampi CMD from distributing folders and sample ballots that have holes beside names of their slate before election day.

According to Chan, the 30,000 supporters who have attended in their proclamation rally last Wednesday evening will resent any cheating.

Chan has promised a bigger crowd in their grand rally, the date of which would still be decided among them and party officials in Manila.

"Dili to hakot ang amoa. Kadtong mga tawhana nga niabot og 30,000. gusto lang gyod to og kausaban sa corrupt nga sistima nato dinhi sa Lapu-Lapu City ug boluntaryo silang nipakita sa ilang suporta ngari nato. Kun tikason ang election masamok gyod ta dinhi sa Lapu-Lapu," Chan said.

The group of Liberal Party (LP) mayoralty candidate Efrain Pelaez, Jr. had also filed the same petition before Comelec questioning the validity of the sample ballots that Lakas are distributing to its supporters.

"Mag-seminar mi sa tanang lideres sa kada barangay aron atbangan ang pagpanikas," Chan said, adding the seminar will start today. – Garry B. Lao (THE FREEMAN)
