US national dies in Badian road mishap

CEBU, Philippines - The parish priest of Moalboal, Cebu was accused of accidentally hitting a 5-year-old boy in barangay Banhigan, Badian.

Father Roldan Tavactavac, 40, accidentally hit Ramon Calabroso at around 7:30 p.m. last Friday while the victim was crossing the road.

Initial investigation conducted by the Badian police revealed that the priest was driving his Kia Sportage on his way to Moalboal when the accident happened.

The victim was immediately brought to Badian District Hospital for treatment and was later transferred to Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.

The priest was nowhere to be found as he allegedly fled after the incident. The Badian police is still waiting for the family of the victim to file the formal charges against the priest.

Meanwhile, an American National died in road accident while on his way to the hospital for a medical check up.

Mark Anthony Hermreck, 52, was driving a Honda XLR motorcycle on the way to the Badian District Hospital when he lost control of the motorcycle and rammed at the iron railings before hitting the electric post in sitio Dapdap, barangay Bugas at around 10:30 a.m. the other day

Investigations conducted by the Badian police shows that the victim was driving at a maximum speed and continue to accelerate while negotiating the curve portion of the road.

Dr. Michelle Tejero, one of his board mates, arrived at the scene and tried to give the victim a first aid but failed to save him. He was brought to the district hospital but not anymore to undergo his regular medical check up.
