CEBU, Philippines - Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano came to share a moment of fulfillment with his fellow Cebuanos during the ceremonial switch-on and turn-over of the Heritage of Cebu Monument to the Barangay Pari-an last Friday.
The heritage monument, which was built by national artist Eduardo Castrillo, now came to its progress as the City Government of Cebu led its rehabilitation in the year 2001 through the help and collective efforts of Durano.
Durano, during last Friday’s program, shared his delight in the accomplishment of the heritage site even though he only has few more months in the cabinet.
“I don’t mind that this is my last project as DOT secretary. I can be proud of this project,” he said in his speech.
He commended the efforts of the people involved especially the Cebu City Government and Barangay Pari-an. According to him, he made sure that the budget is prepared and that the project is completed before the election ban starts.
“Preservation of cultural aspects will always be a work in progress,” Durano said. — Debbie Y. Acebu,UP Masscom Intern/FPL (THE FREEMAN)
