AT CEBU COLISEUM: Villar due in Cebu today to attend KUSUG rally

MANILA, Philippines - Kugi Uswag Sugbu (KUSUG) Party mayoralty candidate Alvin Garcia along with south district congressional candidate Jonathan Guardo announced yesterday that Nacionalista Party standard-bearer Manny Villar and some senatorial candidates will be in Cebu today for a rally at the Cebu Coliseum.

Garcia said in a press conference yesterday that the KUSUG-sponsored rally will start at 4 p.m.

Garcia said they have been inviting Villar for a rally and finally the presidential aspirant said yes to their invitation.

Villar, who visited Cebu City about two weeks ago, will also be holding rallies in Mandaue City and Talisay City.

Along with Villar are some senatorial candidates.

Expected in Cebu are senate aspirant Ramon ‘Mon-mon’ Mitra and the son of detained Marine Col. Ariel Querubin.

Celebrities such as Randy Santiago, Jessa Zaragoza and the band 6 Cyclemind will also be present to endorse Villar as well as to entertain his supporters.

Garcia made it clear that this is not the grand rally that Cebuanos have been waiting. Instead, this is an opportunity for Villar to speak to his supporters directly.

Garcia added that they chose to hold the event at the Cebu Coliseum because he knows that the city will not let them use open spaces such as the Fuente Osmeña during rush hours. — May April M. Jimenea, UP Mass Comm Intern/NLQ
