Sinulog cleaners' incentives ok'd

- Rene U. Borromeo -

CEBU, Philippines - Three months after the Sinulog mardi gras, the city council has finally approved the P1,000 cash incentives for each of the 557 personnel of the Department of Public Services who participated in the clean up operation immediately after the parade.

The Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) committee headed by Councilor Joey Daluz III strongly recommended the giving of incentives for those who helped in the cleanup operation.

It was no less than Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña who first suggested the granting of cash incentives to DPS personnel as a way of thanking them for the exemplary job of cleaning up the city from tons of garbage accumulated during the affair.

Daluz said the granting of cash assistance to DPS personnel is in line with the Revised Policies on Employees Suggestions and Incentive Awards System as provided for under the memorandum circular issued by the Civil Service Commission.

The mayor said that during the Sinulog, tourists and local spectators came to witness the spectacular activity and as a result city streets were littered with garbage.

According to the mayor, he was very happy with what he had observed few hours after the culmination of the grand parade because the streets were already clean.

“The PRAISE committee sees the importance of giving incentives to employees who greatly helped the celebration of Sinulog a success,” Daluz said. — THE FREEMAN
