Gibo prayer rally turns Capitol grounds green
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Capitol grounds were flooded with people wearing green last night as a prayer rally was held in support of the campaign of presidential aspirant Gilbert Teodoro.
But activities for the day-long event started early morning according to Cebu volunteers for Teodoro’s campaign as more than 150 vehicles volunteered to accompany the party of Teodoro which was headed by the presidentiable’s wife, Rep. Nikki Teodoro.
From the airport, they headed to the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral and afterwards proceeded to the two major malls in Cebu.
Rep. Teodoro, in a quick interview with The FREEMAN said that they were very pleased with the reception of Cebu in the campaign.
“Fantastic!” said Teodoro on how Cebu has so far accepted them especially with the support of Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.
Teodoro was also interviewed yesterday in the Capitol Social Hall by The FREEMAN columnist Bobit Avila and Philippine STAR’s Honey Jarque Loop for a TV show in Skycable.
There she said that they are happy with the support they are getting and would definitely be giving back the support through the assurance that Teodoro would be the best president for the country.
“He will not disappoint you,” said Rep. Teodoro stressing on the character of her husband especially his honesty.
This, according to the representative, should assure the people that they are running a clean campaign and that they do not make empty promises.
Rep. Teodoro also asked the people to give importance to their one vote and they should not sell it.
She urged the public, especially the youth, to vote the right person for the coming election and that is her husband who is “championing good governance”.
Aaron Yap, one of the core group members of Green Team Cebu City Chapter, said that they have over 3,500 volunteers already not only from the youth but from different groups.
“That is only for the Cebu City chapter,” said Yap who shared that they are expecting more volunteers.
Yap explained the 3,500 volunteers are not a fixed number yet as there were groups, couples or families that registered as one.
Yap said that they are confident that they are not wasting their votes since they believe that Teodoro is the best candidate considering his character and competence for the position.
The supporters yesterday were entertained by the famous local band, Rivermaya, who sang the song “Sulong Gibo”.
Mike Elgar, the guitarist of the band said that they volunteered their time to support Teodoro and that they are not paid for it.
He said that even the song they did for Gibo and their appearance in the TV commercial was for free since they believe in Teodoro and his capability to lead.
Elgar shared that they have been going around the country with the campaign and they are pleased to do it for free. — THE FREEMAN
