CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Senators Noynoy Aquino and Mar Roxas of the Liberal Party will visit the 1st District of Cebu, whose leaders are known supporters of Nacionalista Party presidential candidate Manuel “Manny” Villar, tomorrow.
The local LP headed by its gubernatorial candidate Hilario Davide III however believes that though the leaders in the 1st District are supporters of Villar, the decision still lies in the hands of the people who are longing for political change, thus, have the heart for Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino.
This will be the first time that the Liberal Party will hold its proclamation rally in the district.
The district is composed of the cities of Naga, Talisay and Carcar and the towns of Minglanilla, Sibonga and San Fernando.
The proclamation rally tomorrow will start with a press conference sponsored by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña at the city hall building by 11:30 a.m.
It will be followed by a private lunch with city officials and LP candidates including Aquino and Roxas, the senatorial aspirants and the local LP candidates headed by Davide III and his running mate Greg Sanchez.
Former chief justice and permanent representative of the country to the United Nations Hilario Davide Jr. will also join the rally to campaign not only for his son, Davide III, but for clean and honest elections in May.
Aquino will also be with his sister and popular show business personality Kris Aquino.
The caravan will start in Carcar City at 2 p.m. and head to Talisay City where the proclamation rally will be held at 4 p.m.
The local Liberal Party said that they will never be discouraged by the support of the leaders of the six towns and cities of the first district to Villar, but they will take the matter as a challenge.
Recently, the six mayors of the cities of Naga, Talisay and Carcar and the towns of Minglanilla, Sibonga and San Fernando signed a manifesto formalizing their support to Villar’s presidential candidacy despite their alliance with One Cebu, which is supporting administration bet Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro.
LP said that Cebuanos are intelligent voters and are filled with their love for the country and for democracy. — THE FREEMAN
