Robber chooses class ring over money

CEBU, Philippines - Of what seems to be an irony or ironies, a robber chose a class ring over money from a woman he was holding up on board a jeepney.

The victim, Mitzi Bontilao Jabadan, 28, of Barangay Talamban, said she was riding a jeepney heading to Jakosalem Street when another passenger, a man with tattoos on different parts of his body, sat across her and told her he needed money as his child was sick.

“He said his child is sick and that he needed my class ring,” Jabadan said.

When she refused to hand her ring over, the suspect reportedly pulled out a kitchen knife, which prompted her to remove her class ring immediately.

“Pasangil ra na gakinahanglan og kwarta… unta dili na niya buhaton sa uban,” Jabadan said.

Jabadan described the suspect as having long hair, a tattoo on his right chest, and of medium built. She said she could still recognize the suspect.

Obviously regretting the loss of her ring, Jabadan said, “mangita siya’g trabaho. Nanrabaho man gani ta.” — Yvoughn Nadine Navarro, Chessa Elaine Antipuesto, and Abigail Libo-on, NORSU Interns/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
