Garganera won't oppose BOPK projects
CEBU, Philippines - Tinago councilman Joel Garganera yesterday assured that he would not oppose projects of the Bando Osmeña Pundok-Kauswagan (BOPK) once elected Cebu City councilor in the May elections.
In fact, Garganera, an opposition candidate, said he would even sponsor an ordinance continuing the granting of cash assistance for senior citizens and disabled persons, and scholarship to public high school graduates.
“Pagkakaron god nga ang pagpanghatag sa maong cash assistance wala ipaagi og ordinansa mahimo nga himoon ra kana ni mayor (Tomas) Osmeña panahon sa eleksyon. Kun ako makadaug, pabuhatan ko g’yod na og ordinansa,” said Garganera.
Garganera criticized Osmeña for making statements that the cash assistance and scholarship will be stopped once he will be elected to the council.
Osmeña said the funds for cash assistance and scholarship were taken from the city’s sales of the South Road Properties and it was Garganera who questioned the validity of the city’s ownership of the 295-hectare reclaimed area.
But Garganera said if he had not filed a case in court against the city questioning the validity of the proclamation issued by President Arroyo that the SRP is owned by the city, the businessmen will not be encouraged to buy lots in the area. — (FREEMAN NEWS)
