-

CEBU, Philippines - Two members of the Alpha Kappa Rho were injured after they were shot by still unidentified person believed to be a member of their rival fraternity after attending the popular “Sugat sa Minglanilla.”

The shooting took place at past 4:00 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Ward I, Minglanilla.

Mark Lester Ragasajo and Joxan Recabuenas, both 20 years old, were on their way home to Bulacao, Talisay City after attending the “Sugat Kabanhawan” when the unknown assailant bumped and shot them.

The gunman, who was said to be drunk, allegedly pulled out a handgun tucked on his waist and fired at the victims.

Ragasajo sustained a gunshot wound on his right jaw while Recabuenas was hit on the stomach and his right finger.

Both victims were immediately taken to the South General Hospital for treatment while responding policemen from the Minglanilla Police Station failed to arrest the suspect during a hot pursuit operation.

Meanwhile, a 41-year-old man died of multiple gunshot wounds in Barangay Kawit, Medellin last Saturday.

Recolito “Don-don” Postero was already about to sleep at past 8:00 p.m. when a certain Jojo called out for him.

The victim went to see the suspect but the family members were shocked to hear several bursts of gunfire and see Postero already bathed with blood. The victim died on the spot while the suspect immediately fled.

The police are still looking into the motive of the killing. — Niña G. Sumacot/FPL (THE FREEMAN)
