NO POLITICS ASSURED: Sanchez' "issue" with trade partner settled

CEBU, Philippines - After reports of a complaint filed in court by a businesswoman against him for unpaid bills, Vice Governor Gregorio “Greg” Sanchez clarified that all has been settled and it was just a misunderstanding.

Selpha Trinidad also said there was nothing political behind her filing a complaint against the vice governor.

In an interview with the media, Sanchez said that he was surprised by the complaint lodged in court by Trinidad, the supplier of raw materials for his Lacto Pafi business since he never knew that he still had unpaid bills.

Trinidad’s complaint stated that a delivery of raw materials amounting to P278,530 was made to Sanchez’s office in November 2006 and another delivery on March 2007. However, Sanchez allegedly failed to pay the amounts that accumulated an interest of two percent per month.

But Sanchez said that he did not know about the matter until when he was reminded of it by one of his personnel. He said that he gave a check but this was supposedly not accepted by Trinidad.

However, Trinidad said she never received any check. She said she would have received any check that was given to her.

Trinidad also said she sent three demand letters but received no reply but Sanchez said he never received any demand letter.

After a meeting both parties settled the matter.

Froilan Quijano, the legal counsel of Trinidad, said that they will file a motion to dismiss the complaint since the payment was already promised.

Sanchez said that he has always settled his payments with Trinidad.

Trinidad also said that they have always had a good working relationship with Sanchez since 2006, but due to the miscommunication, they were forced to file the complaint.

Quijano said that they would also like to clarify that there was no political agenda behind the complaint after reports said that Sanchez questioned the timing of the complaint due to the upcoming elections where he is seeking for re-election.

Quijano said that the complaint was done to demand for payment and no other reason at all. – AJ de la Torre/BRP    (FREEMAN NEWS)
