CEBU, Philippines - The Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) will temporarily not accept some patients starting Sunday to March 31 to give way for the annual routine preventive maintenance.
Hospital chief Gerardo Aquino announced in a letter he furnished to The FREEMAN that the VSMMC will not be accepting obstetrics cases for the duration of the activity.
The VSMMC Infection Control Committee will do scrubbing and cleaning at the delivery and labor rooms, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Obstetrics Ward and Ward II, he said.
Patients from the southern part of Cebu would be referred to St. Anthony Mother and Child while those from the northern part of the province will be referred to the Eversley Child Sanitarium and General Hospital in Mandaue City.
“Please bear with us with this slight inconvenience. This is to provide the public a safe and clean hospital environment,” Aquino said.
Aquino sent copies of his letter to Robert Denopol, chief of St. Anthony Mother and Child Hospital; Primo Joel Alvez, chief of Eversley Child’s Hospital; and Myrna Go, chief of Cebu City Medical Center.
He also furnished a copy of the letter to Christine Giango, Cebu Provincial Health Officer, to help VSMMC disseminate the information to the province’s district hospitals.
VSMMC is formerly the Southern Islands Medical Center located along B. Rodriguez Street, Cebu City. — Niña G. Sumacot/LPM (THE FREEMAN)
