Police arrest six suspects in gang rape, BF's killing

-

CEBU, Philippines - After several days of surveillance, the police in Lapu-Lapu City arrested the other night six members belonging to the gangs called “Crips” and “Bloods” for their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a juvenile and the killing of her 16-year-old boyfriend who himself was allegedly a member of one of the gangs.

The alleged gang rape happened in sitio Carmelite, barangay Buaya, Lapu-Lapu City last Saturday at around 2 in the morning.

The alleged victim is now under the custody of Department of Social Welfare and Development while the boyfriend’s remains lie in his family’s residence in barangay Buaya.

According to the police, the lovers were dating and were about to buy burgers when gang members came and pointed a gun at them.

The police, led by Police Chief Inspector Condrado Manatad first arrested Joel Ramirez, 19, Andy Silagan, 19, and two seventeen year-olds in barangay Bangkal, Lapu-Lapu.

Manatad said the rape victim identified the four suspects in a police lineup Wednesday afternoon.

“Positive kaayo ang biktima. Unya nakaila gyud ni sila sa mga suspect kay silingan ra man ni nila,” Manatad said.

In a followup operation, the police arrested the alleged gunman, Jeffrey Maglinte Cabilao, 19, a “Bloods” member, who resides in Buaya, and a 15-year-old “Crips” member.

“Nagtuo nga mag vandal ra ang among tuyo pero lain diay. Si Saddam (referring to Cabilao) man ang nagplano nga lugoson ang babaye. Ambot nganong gipusil pa gyud niya si Russel,” the four suspects told the police.

Cabilao denied he raped the girl and killed her boyfriend.

“Dili gyud intawon ko makabuhat ana sir kay sayo man ko niuli kay gipangita nako sa akong asawa. Imposible sab kaayo na ang ilang gisulti ana nila nga wa man ko makaila nila gawas kang Henry. Unya ako sab to nga amigo si Russel. Imposible kaayo nga akong pusilon, sir,” Cabilao said.

Manatad said they will be filing murder and rape charges against the six suspects.
