2 arrested for drugs

-

CEBU, Philippines - The younger brother of Talisay City Councilor Aaron “Ronnie” Capala was arrested by police for illegal drugs in Carcar City yesterday dawn.

Hermigildo Baclay Capala, 60, alias Dodong, a resident of Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, was arrested in a buy-bust operation in sitio Luwan-luwan, Barangay Poblacion, Carcar City by operatives of the Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Force (RAIDSOTF).

Insp. Glenn Hife, the team leader during the operation, said Hermigildo is a bigtime drug pusher and the number one on their order of battle.

But Hermigildo denied the accusations, saying that he had legal business of fishing and that he is one of the owners of a cockfighting arena in Talisay City.

Hife said 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P150,000 were seized from Hermigildo’s possession.

During the buy-bust operation, a poseur-buyer handed over money to the suspect. But sensing the authorities, he ran but the RAIDSOTF operatives were able to arrest him.

Hefi said the suspect can dispose of at least a kilo of shabu a week.

“Bigtime jud ni siya kay dili ni modawat og ginagmay lang nga na order, bulto jud ni iya dawaton. Kani sab siya ug mao ra ang order mao ra pud ni iyang dad-on,” Hife said.

However, Hermigildo said he is not involved in illegal drugs but admitted that he was arrested for number games.

But the suspect told reporters that he would only answer charges in court, urging the police and media not to drag the name of his elder brother.

For his part, Aaron said his younger brother was never involved in illegal drugs.

Meanwhile, police arrested an alleged known drug pusher and confiscate from him P120,000 worth of suspected drugs, four high-powered guns, and drug paraphernalia Tuesday night in sitio Lower Kawayan, Barangay Sambag 2, Cebu City.

Frederick Villamala, alias Weng-Weng, 29, of B. Rodriguez Street was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Cebu City Police Office and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7.

During the operation, Villamala allegedly handed over five grams or P40,000 worth of suspected shabu to a poseur-buyer. A chase ensued when the suspect reportedly ran towards his house upon sensing the lawmen’s presence.

At the suspect’s house, the police arrested him and recovered two more big packs of suspected shabu amounting to P80,000. They also seized three .45 calibers and a baby armalite, several ammunitions, and drug paraphernalia inside his house.

The suspect denied allegations that he is a gun-for-hire who was responsible for several shooting incidents in their place.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, illegal possession of firearms, and violation of the Comelec Gun Ban will be filed against the suspect. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc and Niña G. Sumacot/LPM   (FREEMAN NEWS)
