CPPO urged to hasten process on request for police escort
CEBU, Philippines - An administration candidate for councilor in Talisay City is now hoping that the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) would expedite the process on giving him a police escort as the threats of his life has still not stopped.
“Wa ko motoo, pero dili sab ko mokumpiyansa, wa baya ta kahibaw unsa’y buhaton aning tawhana,” said Val Ylanan in an interview.
Ylanan, who is also the first councilman of Barangay Linao and a junk shop owner, said that the CPPO has already promised to give him a “highly trained” police escort, as he has requested, anytime soon.
But that “soon” may become too late if the person who has been sending death threats to Ylanan for the past weeks would make true to his message that he would terminate the councilman today.
The “texter,” who uses the Sun cellular number: 09338958358, said in his latest message to Ylanan: “Ila kang birahan sa boxing ni Pacman…” The message was sent at 8:40 p.m. last Thursday.
It was last month when Ylanan started receiving threats from someone who introduced himself as “Rolando Ledewa,” reportedly of Danao Public Market in Danao City.
Earlier, the alleged texter threatened to blow up the Ylanan’s house if he would not pay him P50,000. During that time, the texter used the numbers: 0939-8958467, 0939-8958452 and 0939-8958387.
Ylanan alleged that Ledewa’s first message to him was sent last February 12.
The suspect reportedly said that a businessman had offered him P200,000 to eliminate Ylanan, but since he reportedly could not do it, he instead asked the councilman to pay him P50,000 in exchange for his life.
The councilman said that although he does not believe any of it, it has still given him too much anxiety, that even his health has suffered.—Liv G. Campo/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
