Bystanders mob robber

CEBU, Philippines - Bystanders ganged up on a 25-year-old man who they caught robbing and choking a woman inside her car last Thursday evening in Sector 5, barangay Pagsabungan, Mandaue City and was already black-and-blue and bathed in blood when turned over to barangay tanods in barangay Basak.

The man was identified as Jason Booc, 25, married, of barangay Yati, Liloan town while the victim was a certain Jo-ann Villegas, 30, and a resident of barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.

PO2 Richie Ondo of the Basak police station said Villegas stopped her car at 6:15 last Thursday night somewhere in barangay Pagsabungan due to heavy traffic.

Ondo said Booc rushed to her car, opened the back door, and jumped in.

He announced a holdup, started to choke her, and told her to get out of the car, Ondo said.

However, bystanders in the area saw the commotion.

Barangay tanods Erwin Monroid and Ernicerio Badiga then turned over the suspect to SPO2 Juan Calamba.
