Gwen to support elderly in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - Governor Gwendolyn Garcia will prioritize the welfare of senior citizens in Mandaue City even though some of her supporters have suggested that she drop the plan the fact that it is election season and that it would only favor re-electionist Mayor Jonas Cortes, Rep. Nerissa Soon Ruiz’s rival in the mayoralty race. Garcia is backing Ruiz.

“Pero bisan pa man sa daghan nga nagtambag nako nga dili ipadayon ang kalihukan, usa ako sa mibarog gumikan kay dili makiangayon nga mag-antos ang mga senior citizens,” Garcia said.

Mayor Cortes expressed his gratitude to Garcia for giving importance to the elderly in the city.

Mayor Cortes described Governor Garcia as “Inahan sa Probinsya” because of her support to the needs of the people in the barangays.

Provincial board member Wenceslao Gakit, former board member Gabriel Luis Quisumbing, and businessman Glenn Anthony Soco said Garcia’s programs for senior citizens should be given more support. —Jose P. Sollano (FREEMAN NEWS)
