Man found dead at sea
CEBU, Philippines - A 19-year-old man was found dead floating along the shoreline at the Reclamation Area in barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City early yesterday morning.
A distant relative identified the man as Joey Zhang, single, and a Chinese national who has just recently worked in one of the establishments at the Reclamation Area.
According to Subangdaku Police chief P/Chief Inspector Eddie Castaneda, the man’s relative said Zhang had just recently arrived from China for a visit.
But the victim upon arrival here in the country decided to work in his establishment.
The relative said the last time he saw the victim working in his establishment was last Saturday night but instead of going home after work, Zhang went somewhere without asking any permission from him.
Zhang did not come home last Saturday night and the fact that he was not familiar with Cebu, made his relatives worry and had him reported as missing at the Subangdaku police station last Sunday.
But he was already seen floating dead yesterday morning by a Human Resource officer of the F. F. Cruz Construction who was conducting a site inspection yesterday morning.
Castaneda said they believe Zhang committed suicide since there were no signs of foul play.
An autopsy of his body was conducted.
His remains were taken to the Cosmopolitan funeral parlor. – Flor Z. Perolina
