Frasco: Liloan backing Erap, Enrile, Jinggoy

CEBU, Philippines - Liloan town Mayor Vincent Franco ‘Duke’ Frasco said that his town recognizes the support that former President Joseph Estrada has extended to the town most especially in the release of P23 million for the construction of a new public market.

The money was released through Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.

Frasco said that this is the reason that they are behind Estrada’s bid to return to Malacañang and will also be supporting Enrile’s bid re-election as well as that of Senator Jinggoy Estrada, son for the former president.

Frasco pointed out that Estrada came to the aid of the town in its time of need. This was contained in a letter to The FREEMAN, to clarify the headline of a story that recently came out citing that Frasco just hosted lunch, but not giving support to Estrada..

“President Erap delivered with his promise to provide assistance. He answered my call during Liloan’s time of need. In return, it is just not that easy for me to turn my back on President Erap when it is he that is in need of help. It behooves me to show Liloan’s gratitude.”

The mayor, who is running unopposed this May, said “in my capacity as Mayor of the Municipality of Liloan I will support President Erap Estrada, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, and Senator Jinggoy Estrada. Additionally, Liloan will also support Senator Loren Legarda in her candidacy for Vice-President.”

Frasco, a son-in-law of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who has expressed her support to administration bet Gilbert Teodoro, said that he remains a member of Garcia’s One Cebu Party.

“Locally, being a member of One Cebu, Liloan fully supports the candidacy of Governor Gwen Garcia and Glenn Soco. However, in the 5th District, we have no District Congressman whom we are supporting.”

Frasco is married to the Christina, daughter of the governor. Estrada stood as one of the wedding sponsors along with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in what was billed as the “wedding of the year in Cebu for 2009.”—/NLQ (THE FREEMAN)
