Fire bureau, MCWD to put up fire hydrant in a sitio in Mandaue

CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City council yesterday approved a proposed resolution urging the Bureau of Fire Protection in the city to immediately coordinate with the Metro Cebu Water District for the installation of a fire hydrant within vicinity of sitio Sapa-Sapa in barangay Subangdaku.

The resolution is also asking the city fire marshall to submit a compliance report within thirty days.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Victor Biaño, also states that sitio Sapa-sapa has been the scene of two destructive fires years ago.

It was also found out that until now some of the fire victims have not reconstructed their houses and are still living in tents.

The water pressure in the area is allegedly weak.

"Whereas, there is a need to install a fire hydrant in the sitio to enable firemen to source high pressure water during fires in the sitio and neighboring areas, especially now that we are observing the fire prevention month,” the resolution said. – Flor Z. Perolina   (FREEMAN NEWS)
