Job fair in Mandaue
CEBU, Philippines - Some 6,000 jobs are expected to be generated in the forthcoming local and overseas job fair slated in Mandaue City Cultural and Sports Complex on March 18 and 19.
Involved in the job fair are 25 local agencies and another 25 for overseas placement.
The event is organized by the city government of Mandaue through the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO) in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment and Philippine Overseas Employment Authority (POEA) and other media outfits.
Job vacancies include factory workers and salesclerks for local companies and skilled workers for the construction industry as well as domestic helpers for overseas hiring.
The event is the first of a series of job fairs scheduled this year in Mandaue City.
The last job fair was held on August 14, 2009 wherein some 300 applicants especially from Mandaue were hired.
“We want to bring down the unemployment rate and minimize the adverse impact of the economic crisis,” Mandaue Mayor Jonas Cortes said.
At the same time, Mayor Cortes said he has exerted efforts to make the city business-friendly in order to attract more investors and encourage business expansions to be able to generate more local employment.
Applicants for the coming job fair are advised to bring a comprehensive resume, application letter, photocopy of academic credentials, certification of previous employment if there is any, one copy 2X2 ID picture per application, photocopy of passport, NBI clearance, and a National Statistics Office (NSO) certification to hasten the hiring for overseas placement.
