Banks urged to heighten security

CEBU, Philippines - With the election season starting to heat up, Provincial Police Director Erson Digal yesterday met with the Cebu Bankers’s Club to remind its members of the necessity to heighten security in the banks.

Digal said it has been an experience that the number of robbery incidents rise during election season allegedly orchestrated by syndicates that have connections to politicians.

“Ako ni silang gipasidan-an nga kinahanglan hugtan jud nila ang ilang security labi na karon nga nagsingabot na ang local and national elections,” Digal said.

Digal said he brought up names of several banks that need to upgrade their security.

“Amoa jud nga gipaningkamutan nga wala jud mahitabo na robbery karon… kini mao among gibuhat para jud nga malikayan jud ba,” Digal said.

He said it is quite unfair that the police force is the one that usually gets the blame when robbers break into banks, especially if the banks themselves have not put in place adequate security measures. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
