CEBU, Philippines - An 18-year-old tricycle driver landed in the hospital after he was shot by a member of the notorious Crips gang evening last Wednesday in barangay Basak San Nicolas.
Wilfredo Franco Acosta, a resident of Jansen Site, Alumnos sustained a gunshot wound on his left hip. The victim was reportedly mistaken to be an “asset” of Crips’ rival gang.
The Freeman is withholding the identity of the suspect because of his minority.
Police said Acosta was standing along the road in barangay Basak San Nicolas when two men approached him and asked if he was an asset. One of the two who was bringing a gun subsequently fired at Acosta three times, hitting him on the hip with the third bullet.
Acosta was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is now undergoing treatment.
According to the Basak San Nicolas Police Station, the suspect is a resident of Sta. Cruz, Alumnos and has a reputation of being a notorious trouble-maker. He has also been arrested several times.
