Vintage bombs found in Labangon

CEBU, Philippines - Four pieces of what were believed to be vintage bombs were unearthed while works in a construction site in barangay Labangon, Cebu City yesterday morning were ongoing.

Initial investigation conducted by elements of the Cebu City Police Office disclosed that past 10 a.m. yesterday, a call from the Polaris (a radio-based group of the Police Mobile Patrol) instructed police personnel to go to the said place to verify the report.

The report was fed in by a certain Carlito Barben who ekes out a living as a scrap iron canvasser. Barben reportedly said that he was at the construction site for his daily routine of canvassing scraps when he found the four vintage bombs.

Marcelino Colmor, a barangay tanod in the said area, guided the police team to the construction site in sitio Bugnay 2 where Barben was.

The items were turned over to the Special Weapons and Tactics team for proper disposition. - Antoniette T. Parce/MEEV (THE FREEMAN)
