Korean caught selling shabu at hotel charged in court

-

CEBU, Philippines - A Korean National who was caught selling shabu inside an upscale hotel was charged in court yesterday for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office indicted Kim Se Woong for possession of 22 packs of shabu in violation of the Section 11 Article 2 of Republic Act 9165. Fiscals recommended P200,000 as bail for his temporary liberty.

The Korean national was arrested dawn on January 19 inside the hotel after his compatriot and a Filipino companion reported his illegal activity to the police.

SPO1 Francisco Balansag of the Mandaue City Traffic Division and PO1 Romeo Jumalon assigned at the Police Regional Office-7 headquarters said they were having a conversation at the hotel lobby when Jumalon received a call from a friend.

Jumalon said his Korean friend, Danil Kwon, and another Filipino friend, Greg de Alagdon, who were billeted at the said hotel, reported the alleged illegal activity of the accused.

The two police officers responded to the tip and saw the accused still holding several plastic sachets that he was allegedly offering to sell to fellow hotel guests.

The policemen said they introduced themselves as police officers and ordered the accused to put the plastic packs he was holding on the table.

The accused was subsequently placed under arrest after the policemen confirmed that the plastic packs contained illegal drugs. — Fred P. Languido/JMO
