Registration for Asian Youth Forum begins
CEBU, Philippines - The Asian Youth Forum has opened the registration for college students and young professionals who wish to participate in a weeklong discussion of issues and concerns that are affecting the youth of the Asia Pacific today.
AYF is an “international youth event that brings together college-aged young people from across Asia for academic seminars, intercultural workshops, social events and interpersonal exchanges.”
It also aims to promote understanding among youths of different nations, intercultural communication and leadership skills that would contribute to the development of the countries they represent.
The AYF Recruitment Committee headed by AYF 2010 vice president Reynald Chris Capablanca will be accepting 80 to 100 delegates that will attend the five-day forum in Seoul, South Korea tentatively from October 14 to 19 this year.
The participants will be drawn out from 15 Asian countries. Interested applicants may download the form at ayf8korea.weebly.com.
After filling out the form, applicants must also send a 2x2 ID photo and a letter of recommendation from a teacher or an immediate supervisor who would initially serve as applicant’s character reference.
The list of successful applicants will be posted at the same website on March this year. Deadline for registration is on March 15 at 5:00 p.m. Seoul, Korea time.
“I say this is another venue for the youth to take part in changing the world for the better, one step at a time. We had less than 10 delegates from the Philippines last December, let’s raise the bar this year. As Vice President and head of Recruitment, I invite all Cebuano youth and this goes for the whole Filipino youth as well to apply now,” Capablanca said.
Last year’s forum was hosted by Philippines. It was held from December 1 to 6 at the Ateneo de Manila University. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/LPM (FREEMAN NEWS)
