10-day training up for security details

-

CEBU, Philippines - Chosen security guards and protective agents from various establishments here in the city will be made to undergo a ten-day training to gear them up as security details to individuals applying for such.

The Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines decided to deputize security guards and protective agents as security details anticipating the possibility that they may run out of police personnel.

Chief Supt. Lani-O Nerez, director of the Police Regional Office-7, said they will detail them if in case they run out of personnel though Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, chief of the Regional Mobile Group, told him the RMG-7 has enough number of personnel.

Like the police, aside from securing a candidate, these deputized agents should register at their respective Joint Security Council Centers. They are obliged to cooperate with the Commission on Elections checkpoint inspections and to report any untoward incident to the JSCC on 24/7 basis.

Their responsibilities also include reporting immediately any violation of the policies and guidelines on the firearms ban and provision of security detail to JSCC and to avoid any involvement in partisan politics.

Meanwhile, Nerez, who was in a meeting with election officers here yesterday at the PRO-7, calls on individuals applying for security detail to coordinate with their respective municipal JSCC.

The regional JSCC, he said, where most of those interested filed their applications, will take care of either approving or rejecting the application after conducting threat assessment on the applicant’s security situation.

Nerez disclosed that, so far, 16 individuals have already applied for security detail. Aside from private citizens, they are politicians and court personnel. — Niña G. Sumacot/MEEV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
