CEBU, Philippines - Local government units in Cebu have expressed condolence to the family of the late Press Secretary Cerge Remonde.
At the Capitol, members of the Provincial Board approved in mass motion a resolution expressing the provincial government’s deepest sympathy to Remonde’s family.
Remonde was one of the “Garbo sa Sugbu” awardees for the pride he has brought Cebu when appointed as press secretary and director general of the Presidential Management Staff.
He was recognized further for his contribution to the development of his hometown, Argao, by facilitating the implementation of various projects that have benefited residents in the town.
He was also responsible for bringing to school 200 youth residents in Argao under the PGMA scholarship program.
Separate resolutions were also passed by the City Councils of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu. The councilors from the three LGU’s were in one in saying that Remonde brought honor to Cebuanos simply by being one of the most trusted cabinet members of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
It was also in Argao where Remonde was laid to rest last Sunday. Arroyo, Vice President Noli De Castro and some Cabinet members attended the burial. — Jose P. Sollano/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
