Tribu Dawis Surian rules Carmen Sinulog

CEBU, Philippines - Tribu Dawis Surian of barangay Dawis Sur was declared as champion in yesterday’s 37th inter-barangay Sinulog competition in Carmen town.

Tribu Dawis Surian grabbed the P20,000 cash prize plus trophy, aside from the prize for Best in Choreography.

 Fernando Cabrillas, choreographer of Tribu Dawis Surian was also judged as Best Choreographer in yesterday’s Sinulog competition.

 Tribu Bagho of Cogon East garnered second place and received P15,000 cash plus a trophy while third place was awarded to Tribu De Padua of barangay Cogon West.

Cash prizes were also given to contingents in the different special awards.

 The Most Disciplined Award went to Tribu De Padua, Best in Costume to Tribu Dawis Surian and Best in Musicality also went to Tribu de Padua.

 Best in Street Dancing also given to Tribu Mananagat of barangay Luyang.

Lumad Basakanon of barangay Basak, Cebu City, who won the second place of the recent Sinulog in Cebu City under the Free Interpretation category joined the Sinulog in Carmen in street dancing as a guest performer.

 The group was invited by Vice Mayor Gerard Martin Villamor.

The Executive Committee of the Carmen Sinulog Committee decided to cancel the Open category after two contingents decided not to join the Sinulog.

 Mayor Sonia Pua expressed her thanks to all people of Carmen who supported the 37th Sinulog celebration.
