47 new police inspectors take oath
CEBU, Philippines - Forty-seven newly appointed police inspectors took oath yesterday at headquarters of the Police Regional Office-7 (PRO-7) following the ceremonial rank investiture that officially signified their promotion.
These new police commissioned officers formed part of last year’s Lateral Entry Program implemented for line officer positions with the rank of police inspector.
Police Supt.Marciano A. Batiancela Jr, chief of Regional Personnel and Human Resource Doctrine Development, said that of the 82 application folders evaluated by his office, these new officers made it to the top 47 after careful assessment.
The lateral entry is a system of getting into police service by virtue of profession and expertise. It is considered a form of special promotion applicable to police non-commissioned officers who can be accelerated to become police commissioned officers and take the rank of police inspector after undergoing rigid screening and training.
This year’s batch of lateral entrants will undergo six months of training in Advance Officer Basic Course at the Regional Training School-7 in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.
They will also undergo a Field Training Program for another six months at the different police offices in the region. Lateral entrants appointed with temporary status will receive P21, 836 monthly basic pay. — Jessica Ann R. Pareja/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
