Mechanic survives gun attack
CEBU, Philippines - A man survived an attack after shot by an unidentified man he suspected as a cohort of a man he had an altercation with past 12 p.m. last Wednesday in Udlom Power, Barangay Sinsin, Cebu City.
Azor Gabisan, 29, a mechanic and resident of the place, could have been dead by now had he failed to parry the attack of an unidentified man, whose look-out drove the getaway vehicle.
The victim told police that while he was sleeping inside his shanty, the gunman allegedly woke him up by opening the window and asking: “Ikaw si Azor?”
Right after that, the man suddenly shot the victim once but the latter was able to parry the suspect’s arm and the bullet that was supposed to hit his face instead hit his left arm.
When the assailant was about to fire another shot, Gabisan was able to push him causing the latter fell to the ground.
The gunman then fled on board the waiting motorcycle driven by his cohort, leaving behind a gallon full of gasoline.
Gabisan then called his mother, who lived nearby, for help. The victim was then taken to the Cebu City Medical Center where he was treated as out-patient.
Police said the victim believed that the driver of the motorcycle was Jurito “Onol” Ibonalo, his neighbor whom he had an altercation with over an unpaid rent for the motorcycle. Ibonalo was allegedly renting the victim’s motorcycle.
The victim allegedly took back the motorcycle after Ibonalo failed to pay its rent for 12 days already that allegedly irked the latter. — Niña G. Sumacot/WAB (FREEMAN NEWS)
