CEBU, Philippines - A woman died after she was stabbed 11 times by her drunken neighbor past midnight yesterday in Sitio Lower Kauswagan, Barangay Basak-Pardo, Cebu City.
Karen Khay Mejorada, 27, died on the spot after Junie Urot, 18, attacked her using an ice pick after she allegedly refused his demand for money.
The four-year-old son of the victim, who witnessed the incident, was allegedly the one who sought help for his mother to be saved. The child allegedly ran outside their rented house and reportedly told his grandmother, Merlina Mejorada that his mother was bleeding which prompted the latter and some neighbors to check.
The victim was found bathing in a pool of blood inside the house. Barangay Basak-Pardo Emergency Response team immediately responded to the area but the victim was already dead with her eyes dilated.
Police believed that the suspect used an ice pick in stabbing the victim more or less 11 times in the chest. The cadaver was taken to St. Peter Funeral Homes for autopsy.
Police said that few hours prior the incident, the suspect was seen having a drinking session with his friends on the roadside near the victim’s house.
He allegedly went inside the house of the victim and asked money from her to buy more liquor but the victim refused prompting him to get mad and stab her.
