CEBU, Philippines - The search is on for next year’s outstanding research and development in industry and energy open to all Filipino engineers, scientists and researchers from universities and colleges as well as research and development institutions and private industries.
The Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development (PCIERD) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) initiates this lookout for the next best researches for the past five years starting from 2005 to 2009 through the 8th Regional and National Science and Technology Fora and Competitions.
The industry and energy research may fall under areas of chemicals or processing, construction, disaster mitigation, energy, environment, metals and engineering, mining and minerals, processed food, textile and transportation.
The entry should cover the category of applied Research and Development activities including prototyping of industrial and energy-related equipment, process and product development, and environmental concerns and resource utilization.
All submitted entries will be screened. Visayas and Mindanao entries that will qualify will be presented during the Regional Science and Technology Fora Competitions on February 26 next year in Metro Manila.
First prize winner at the regional level will receive P125,000; P100,000 for the second prize and P75,000 for the third prize. All qualifiers will also receive P10,000 cash incentives.
Winners at the regional level will vie at the National competition on March 16. The grand awards day will be on March 17 during the PCIERD 28th anniversary.
For the national level, P300,000 will be given to the first prize winner, P250,000 for the second prize and P200,000 or the third prize.
Deadline for submission of entries will be on January 15 next year. Entries should be submitted to the PCIERD Steering Committee, 8th Regional and National Competitions in Industry and Energy Research, 3rd Floor, DOST Main Building, Gen. Santos Main Avenue, Bicutan Taguig, Metro Manila.
