Two killed, one hurt in Naga shooting
CEBU, Philippines - Two men were killed and another one is in critical condition after they were shot during a drinking spree in Barangay Pangdan, Naga City last Thursday night.
The fatalities were identified as Michael Jimenez, legal age, and Alberto Lapiz, 32, while the latter’s brother, Expedito Lapiz, 44, is still in critical condition at the hospital. All the victims are allegedly native of the place where the incident happened but are now residing in Quiot Pardo, Cebu City.
Two of the suspects were identified as Eulogio Alferez, 32, and Luis Alferez, 44, both residents of Barangay Pangdan.
PO2 Miguel Castañares of Naga City police said that all victims went to the place to visit their relatives and to get some stuffs.Incidentally, they met the suspects and agreed to have a drinking spree at the store of Consolacion Alferez-Takimoto, a sister of the suspects.
But when they were all drunk, the group of the victims allegedly went berserk that made Mercy Alferez, another sister of the suspects to ask them to calm down.
But instead of heeding the request, one of the victims allegedly slapped her. Luis tried to pacify but he was boxed by Jimenez. At this point, Eulogio went to his house and came back with a revolver and shot the victims to their abdomens and heads. Expedito tried to run but was also shot to the abdomen.
All of the victims were rushed to the hospital but Jimenez and Alberto were declared dead on arrival while Expedito remains confined at the South General Hospital.
Luis told police that his brother, Eulogio, who still remains at large, was the one who did indiscriminate firing. However, Expedito told the police officers during an interrogation at the hospital that Luis was among those who shot them, resulting to the latter’s arrest.“Tungod lang gyud ni sa ilang kahubog mao nga niresulta ni sa pagpinusilay kay alas dos sa hapon pa gud ni sila nagsugod og inum,” Castañares said. — Gabriel C.
