CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal the other day carried out the Dedication of the Altar of the newly constructed P30-million St. Therese Church in Lahug, Cebu City.
Vidal celebrated a Mass in the church together with five other bishops assigned in Cebu.
Anita Cabinian, the chairwoman of the St. Therese Pastoral Foundation's fund raising committee, said that the said church is already nearing its completion through hard work, dedication and several fund-raising activities.
The church's construction is almost complete except for the benches and doors, but Cabinian said that they are proud to tell their donors that they can see now the results of their respective donations.
The old church, which was built on same site, was torn down three years ago as this was already old and extensively damaged by termites.
Cabinian said that they started building the new church with only P500,000. Some even considered it as an ambitious plan as they projected that the entire cost of the structure would be around P40 million.
Cabinian further said that the construction of the church was made possible through the unified efforts of the parishioners and also thanked the construction committee headed by Joseph Yu.
The new church can accommodate 2,200 churchgoers and is now an ideal place for weddings. –Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/BRP (FREEMAN NEWS)
