CEBU, Philippines - The United States Government is reportedly interested to prosecute American National Perry McNeely who is facing a string of charges raging from child abuse to sex trafficking of minor.
Chief Insp. George Ylanan, head of the Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the Cebu City Police Office, said the Immigration and Customs Enforcement is now working on bringing McNeely’s cases to the US.
The US reportedly has more serious punishment for those proven guilty of molestation charges.
Ylanan said the ICE agent is closely monitoring McNeely’s case and is working to have McNeely prosecuted in a US court.
McNeely, 66, together with two other Americans, Andre Breeding and Michael Lopez, were arrested after they were found with a 14-year-old girl inside a hotel in barangay Lahug last week.
Breeding and Lopez, who were charged along with McNeely with child abuse, stepped out of jail last Friday after posting a P24,000 bail.
McNeely, however, was not allowed to post because aside from the child abuse case, he was also charged for trafficking of persons and for rape.
Ylanan said US Consul John Domingo also visited IDMB and confiscated McNeely’s passport.
“The passport is a property of the US government and the US government can take this anytime. So that would mean he cannot leave the country,” Ylanan said. — Niña G. Sumacot/JMO (FREEMAN NEWS)
