Construction worker commits suicide

CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old construction worker reportedly committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of their house last Monday morning in Barangay Bahay, Sibonga town.

Turnelio Tañola reportedly killed himself as he was disheartened after his niece got pregnant.

PO2 Ederlino Bacusmo told The FREEMAN that Tañola’s wife woke up around 4:30 a.m. to prepare for their breakfast. But when she went back to their bedroom, she was shocked upon seeing Tañola hanging from the ceiling of their room already lifeless.

Tañola’s body was taken to Tupas Funeral Homes for autopsy. And the examination revealed no foul play in the incident.

His wife disclosed to investigators that they have twice heard Tañola saying he would commit suicide.

The couple does not have a child and Tañola’s closest niece got pregnant out of wedlock. – Niña G. Sumacot/LPM   (FREEMAN NEWS)
