Four NBI 7 agents among top performing agents nationwide

CEBU, Philippines - Four agents of the National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas who took part in the operation against the Alvin Flores Armed Robbery Gang in Cebu are among this year’s top performing NBI agents nationwide.

Senior Agent Gregorio Algoso, Jr. bagged the second spot with a total of 10,320 points accumulated since January to September this year. He has successfully investigated and filed 67 cases, which are now being prosecuted in court and have terminated 15 cases.

Among the high-profile cases investigated and solved by Algoso was the murder of businessman and Daanbantayan candidate for councilor Renerio Arrogante III.

Tailing Algoso on sixth spot is Senior Agent Reynaldo Villordon, Jr. with more than 7,130 points accumulated.

Supervising Agent Jose Ermie Monsanto follows closely with also more than 7,000 points. Two other agents made it to the top 20- Supervising Agent Rennan Augustos Oliva and Bernard dela Cruz.  

For Special Investigators, Arnel Pura made to the top six with 7,650 points and the only special investigator in Region 7 who made it to the top 10.

Four other special investigators from NBI-7 - Jedidah Hife, Florante Gaoiran, Teodoro Saavedra and Gregorio Tomagan – also made it to the top 50.

Pura has recommended the prosecution of 36 cases and the termination of 14 other cases, including the arrest of two foreign nationals for violation of the Security Code of the Philippines.

The NBI agents and investigators were rated based on the number of cases they have solved and terminated.

NBI Central Visayas, which used to be the number one command in the entire country, surprisingly landed only in the fourth spot. The selection was based on the accomplishments of the different NBI offices nationwide.

Some agents also expressed surprise that the death of the wife of broadcaster Ted Failon was chosen as the case of the year instead of the successful rounding up of the Alvin Flores Gang. — Fred P. Languido/JMO   (FREEMAN NEWS)
